The team consisted of Michael Coffey, Andy Crummey, Charlie Crummey, Stephen Moss and Mike Stamper. As usual the week began with the dinner match against Glenalmond, which resulted in a satisfactory 3-0 win for St Bees and was followed as usual by a most enjoyable and entertaining dinner at the Hillside
The competition proper commenced with a good win in the 1st round against our Hillside roommates, King Edward’s School Birmingham.
The following morning St Bees lined up in the 2nd round against somewhat awkward opponents, Bishop’s Stortford. St Bees however were triumphant with a 2/1 victory.
We went straight on to the Quarter Finals in the afternoon against more testing opposition in the form of Merchant Taylors. Despite a valiant effort by the entire team, St Bees eventually succumbed and lost 0/3.

St Bees had some small consolation in that Merchant Taylors eventually went on to win the competition.
